VISION

Calvary Church is a multiplying community because the grace of Christ motivates us, both corporately and individually, to go to the lost, pray for them by name, serve them, competently proclaim Christ to them, welcome them into our fellowship, and train them to do likewise, while standing firm in persecution.

Our Vision Explained

MULTIPLYING COMMUNITY

Acts 2:47 47And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
Mark 4:30-32  30 And he said, "With what can we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable shall we use for it? 31It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when sown on the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on earth, 32yet when it is sown it grows up and becomes larger than all the garden plants and puts out large branches, so that the birds of the air can make nests in its shade."
Acts 6:7 7 So the word of God spread. The number of disciples in Jerusalem increased rapidly, and a large number of priests became obedient to the faith.
Acts 12:24 24 But the word of God continued to spread and flourish.

GRACE OF CHRIST MOTIVATES US

2 Corinthians 5:11, 14-15 11 Since, then, we know what it is to fear the Lord, we try to persuade others… 14 For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. 15 And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.

CORPORATELY AND INDIVIDUALLY

Romans 12:4-5 4 For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5 so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
1 Corinthians 12:12-14 12 Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. 13 For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. 14 Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.

GO TO THE LOST

Luke 19:10 10For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost."
Matthew 28:19 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 10:6-7 6Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. 7As you go, preach this message: 'The kingdom of heaven is near.'

PRAY FOR THEM

Luke 10:2 2 And he said to them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest."
Acts 4:29 29Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness.
Acts 6:4 4"But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word."
Romans 10:1 1Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.
2 Thessalonians 3:1 1Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honored, as happened among you.
Colossians 4:3 3At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison.

SERVE THEM

James 1:27 27Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
James 2:15-16 15Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. 16If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it?
Matthew 25:34-36 34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’"
Matthew 20:25-28 25But Jesus called them to him and said, "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. 26 It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, 27and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, 28even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

COMPETENTLY PROCLAIM CHRIST

Romans 10:14-15 14How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? 15And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written,"How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!"
2 Corinthians 5:20 20Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
Acts 8:4 4Now those who were scattered went about preaching the word.
2 Timothy 4:2 2preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.

WELCOME THEM INTO OUR FELLOWSHIP

John 1:40-42 40Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, was one of the two who heard what John had said and who had followed Jesus. 41The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, "We have found the Messiah" (that is, the Christ). 42And he brought him to Jesus.
John 1:44-46 44Philip, like Andrew and Peter, was from the town of Bethsaida. 45Philip found Nathanael and told him, "We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph."  46"Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?" Nathanael asked.  "Come and see," said Philip.
Isaiah 2:2-3 2 In the last days, the mountain of the LORD's temple will be established as chief among the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and all nations will stream to it. 3 Many peoples will come and say, "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths."
Ephesians 2:19-20 19Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household, 20built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.

TRAIN THEM TO DO LIKEWISE

Matthew 28:18-20 18Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
Matthew 4:19 19And he said to them, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men."

STAND FIRM IN PERSECUTION

Matthew 13:21 21 But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away.
Acts 11:19 19 Now those who had been scattered by the persecution that broke out when Stephen was killed traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus and Antioch, spreading the word only among Jews.
Revelation 2:10 10 Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you life as your victor’s crown.
